Injury Updates: Vikings’ T.J. Hockenson suffers season-ending ACL and MCL injury in Week 16 loss to Lions
During their 30-24 loss to the rival Detroit Lions in Week 16, the Minnesota Vikings suffered the loss of one of their most important playmakers. The group reported Tuesday that tight end T.J. Hockenson experienced a season-finishing upper leg tendon and MCL injury. It’s hazy how long the veteran will miss, or on the other hand assuming that he will be back in time for the beginning of the 2024 mission.
In the second from last quarter, Hockenson endured a hard shot to his right leg from cautious back Kerby Joseph, taking the tight end out of the game. Before his exit, Hockenson got four passes for 58 yards.
“Knowing T.J., the sort of player he is, I’m totally anticipating when we can prepare him back rolling and to have an incredible 2024 season,” Vikings lead trainer Kevin O’Connell said.
Hockenson had a lifelong mission in his most memorable full season with the Vikings. In 15 games played, he got 95 passes for 960 yards and five scores. His 95 gatherings rank second among all close finishes behind Evan Engram, and his 960 getting yards third behind George Kittle and Travis Kelce. Hockenson set the Vikings’ single-season record in gatherings by a tight end, and was poised to break the single-season record for getting yards by a Vikings tight end.
Hockenson was chosen by the Lions with the No. 8 generally speaking pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Iowa. At the exchange cutoff time last year, he was transported to the opponent Vikings. Since entering the association, Hockenson positions fifth in getting yards among tight closures (3,547).
On the Vikings’ depth chart, Josh Oliver, Johnny Mundt, and Nick Muse are listed behind Hockenson. Up next for the Vikings are the Green Narrows Packers Sunday night in Minnesota. As per SportsLine information researcher Stephen Gracious, the 7-8 Vikings at present have a 25.4% opportunity to come to the postseason.
