Kevin Kisner’s hopes that this weekend’s NBC broadcast debut won’t result in his “cancellation”
Kevin Kisner coined the expression “Ain’t no hobby” to describe his exceptional prowess on the golf course, but this Friday he’ll embark on what may become a new job. Furthermore, he hopes they won’t be his last.
The 2024 PGA Tour season began on Thursday at the Sentry, where the four-time PGA Tour winner will be making his television debut as an analyst for NBC Sports. It is anticipated that Kisner would make a quick TV cameo during Friday’s programming before taking Dan Hicks’ spot as play-by-play guy for the duration of the weekend.
To be clear, despite a difficult 2023, the 39-year-old doesn’t believe his playing days are over. He has two tournaments coming up: the American Express and the Sony Open. However, NBC chose him to take over for the late Paul Azinger at this week’s and next month’s WM Phoenix Open because he has always been willing to work on television after hanging up his spikes. Although NBC has not yet announced a full-time replacement for Azinger, there are rumors that Geoff Ogilvy is the network’s top choice.
Meanwhile, golf fans will have their ears on Kisner, who has been known to utilize some, um, beautiful language on the course. What’s more, in a meeting with Sports Delineated’s Gabby Herzig, Kisner made it clear he has been informed he is all alone in the event that he neglects some unacceptable thing out of his mouth.
“The No. 1 and No. 2 inquiries I’ve gotten are: ‘ Could it be said that you are resigning from golf?’ furthermore ‘How long of a postponement would they say they are putting you on?'” Kisner stated, I asked [NBC Golf maker Tommy Roy] that inquiry and he said, ‘Gracious, no, there’s no deferral.’ I said, ‘Well what occurs in the event that I mess up?’ What’s more, he said, ‘All things considered, you get dropped. I don’t.'”
Very little safety net! In spite of the fact that Kisner has been helped to remember a couple of things not to say.
“Definitely, they’ve let me know a couple of words also on air,” Kisner added with a giggle. Watch Kisner’s response here:
Break a leg, Kevin! Simply violate no FCC regulations all the while.
