Golfer accused of angrily walking out of The Open at Royal Troon speaks out
Romain Langasque speaks out after withdrawing mid-round.
Romain Langasque gave an explanation after leaving the Open on the eighth hole following a disastrous tee shot that was just 84 yards away. The Frenchman ended his time at Royal Troon with a score of four over par through eight, but has since shone a light on why he walked off the course.
Langasque was one of several golfers to struggle in the adverse Scottish weather, but had entered the competition in fine form after finishing third at the Scottish Open last week with a score of 15 under. Returning to the eighth, the 29-year-old found himself well short of the 120-yard par 3. He then got onto the green on the shortest hole, then turned to his caddie afterwards and shook his head. He was heard to say “I’m done,” before walking over to his playing partners CT Pang and Yuto Katsuragua, removing his baseball cap and stalking off mid-turn.
