Tiger Woods and the Masters Love Story at Augusta National
Here’s a look at Tiger’s five green jackets ahead of the 2022 Masters Tournament, which will be held April 7-10 in Augusta, Georgia.
“I feel like I can play now,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday (April 5). “My recovery has gone well. I’m very happy with how I’m recovering every day.”
Woods, who won his last major at Augusta in 2019, has been practicing on the course this week in front of a large crowd.
“I only enter events when I think I can win,” he said. It was a wonderful way back, and the last of Woods’s legendary career after the car accident in February 2021, and the Americans were suffering from the complex of both feet.
When he plays in the 2022 tournament, which was appointed from April 7 to 10, he seeks the sixth master for a record victory. He firmly believes it’s a possibility.
When asked if he thought he could win the tournament, he replied, “Yes, I do.” “I don’t introduce the event, unless I think I can win it. That’s the attitude I had. One day this will no longer happen. And I’ll know it when it does.”
Here’s a look back at each of his last five tournament victories.
In 1997, after two appearances as an amateur, Woods made his professional debut at the Masters and promptly won the tournament. Not only did he win the Masters in 1997, he also dominated the tournament, setting a record of 18-under-par 270 (which stood until 2020) – a 12-shot margin of victory (still the largest Masters victory) over Tom Kite.
It was Woods’ first major and the first Masters tournament won by a non-white player. He also became the youngest champion at Augusta at age 21.
Woods won the U.S. Open in 2001, the British Open and the PGA Championship, which he won the previous year. Tiger led a club after the third round, gathered 68 rounds and finished his 16th JR.
The realization was called “Tiger Slam \”. Tiger’s six-under-par round on Saturday put him in a tie for the lead, having trailed by four strokes after the second round.
Woods had no problems on the final day, winning by three strokes to one, becoming just the third player to defend his Masters title after Jack Nicklaus in 1966 and Nick Faldo in 1999. Woods’ fourth Masters title was the closest he’s come to winning any of his five.
The tournament was played in rain and the pace of the links was far behind. He was in third place after the first two rounds, six strokes behind leader Chris DiMarco.
Tiger finished the third round at seven under par, DiMarco at two over par, and Woods took the overall lead by three strokes. But DiMarco came back on the final day, and despite Woods making a 50-foot putt on the 16th hole that would later be considered the best putt in the history of the tournament, Tiger lost to DiMarco and sent the round to a playoff. Woods won the playoffs with a sudden death hole, a bird of 18, while Dimarko could only face vapor.
Woods is a spectacular drop in the Golf Summit due to the injury and many problems outside the course in his personal life in the years preceding 2019, were well documented. He was not considered a favorite of a green jacket before the weekend, but after the second round, he sat only behind the leader.
Tiger maintained a conflict in the third round and won a famous victory before the bad final round of the two loans from the Night Chief Frances Commonari. At age 43, he won his fifth Masters title, becoming the second-oldest player ever to win the tournament.
