Red Bull in “Uncomfortable Position” as Yuki Tsunoda…continue reading

Red Bull Racing is in an “awkward position” after comments from RB driver Yuki Tsunoda, who openly pointed out a “limitation” in the team’s current strategy and development path.

Tsunoda, who has demonstrated moments of excellence during the 2025 season with RB (formerly AlphaTauri), voiced his frustration about the gap between his performances and the resources at his disposal. In a recent interview, the Japanese driver hinted that strategic and technical limitations were hindering both his personal growth and the team’s overall competitiveness.

“There are undoubtedly limitations,” Tsunoda remarked. “I’m doing everything I can to get the most out of the car, but some factors are beyond my control. It’s somewhat challenging because I want to compete at the front, yet both support and upgrades need to fall into place.”

Although Tsunoda didn’t openly criticize Red Bull Racing, his remarks suggest increasing tension over the support provided to Red Bull’s sister team. This is especially relevant amid rumors that significant technical updates have been postponed or sidelined in favor of boosting the senior team’s title campaign.

This situation arises at a sensitive moment for Red Bull, as internal dynamics are under scrutiny due to persistent speculation regarding Sergio Pérez’s future and potential changes in the driver lineup. Tsunoda, who has progressed through the Red Bull junior program, is often cited as a potential candidate for advancement; however, his recent comments indicate frustration over lack of progress.

Team officials have not yet formally responded to Tsunoda’s comments. However, insiders indicate that the leadership is mindful of the situation and might be reevaluating resource allocation between Red Bull and its secondary team, particularly with the mid-season break on the horizon.

As the championship battle heats up, Red Bull must address not only its performance on track but also the mounting concerns within its wider driver ecosystem—before this “awkward position” escalates into a more serious divide.
