Tom Lewis, Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Darren Fichardt all earned DP World Tour cards, whilst the likes of Marc Warren and Alvaro Quiros overlooked out; 33 gamers secured their taking part in privileges for the 2024 season
Freddy Schott eagled the remaining hole to impenetrable a two-stroke victory at the Final Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School to become one of 33 players to earn their DP World Tour cards.
Only the pinnacle 25 and ties at the cease of the six-round event at Infinitum Golf in Tarronga secured their enjoying privileges for the 2024 season, with Schott carding a final-round sixty five to end the week on 27 underneath and claim top spot ahead of Filippo Celli.
“I’m unbelievably happy,” Schott said. “I knew it used to be going to come down to the remaining few holes. I had a chip-in on 14, made a right birdie on sixteen and then the eagle putt losing on 18 just made it a sincerely excellent week. I wasn’t genuinely thinking about prevailing it but then after three or 4 days, I thinking I may as properly go for it and so I did.
“I couldn’t have imagined that after final year I wouldn’t be returned on the DP World Tour. I’ve made some excellent friendships there this year and it is simply splendid to play on the DP World Tour. That was once my solely aim this week.”
Belgian Matthis Besard fired a closing six-under 65 to end in tied-third alongside in a single day chief Sebastian Friedrichsen and Dutchman Darius van Driel, while two-time DP World Tour winner Tom Lewis finished a brilliant healing to earn his card.
Lewis charged back into competition with a 10-under 61 and added rounds of 67 and sixty five over the ultimate two days to declare sixth spot, with former British Masters champion Renato Paratore also amongst the contingent to make certain a return to the top tier.
“I’ve had some up and down moments in my career, and with any luck this can start a new direction for me and I can keep building from here,” Lewis said. “I’ve been in these positions earlier than and got excited and took my foot off the pedal. Hopefully I can learn from that and keep moving forward and take the possibilities when I get them.”
