Check Vikings RB’s status for Week 11 SNF game.

Alexander Mattison was a running back for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2023 NFL season.

He started every game, but his status was in jeopardy for Week 11 after suffering a concussion in his last outing.

Mattison was unable to practice this week while going through the NFL’s official concussion protocol.

This caused him to be listed on the Vikings’ injury report as questionable to play on Sunday Night Football against the Denver Broncos.

His chances to play are starting to look slim based on his latest encouragement update, but Mattison has a strong chance to play in Week 11.

Most players who suffered concussions during the 2023 NFL season did not play in their team’s next game.

This is due to the NFL’s concussion protocol, which focuses on the safety and long-term mental health of players. The intensive process requires diagnosed players to go through multiple checkpoints before being cleared to play by an impartial medical staff.

The nature of the protocols and Mattison’s absence from all Minnesota Vikings practices this week puts his status for Sunday Night Football in jeopardy. Despite the poor forecast, he followed all protocols on Saturday and is now playing.
Here’s what NFL’s Adam Schefter revealed via his personal X account:

“Despite spending a week in the concussion protocol and being listed as out Sunday night, Vikings RB Alexander Mattison is ‘good to go’ and is expected to play against BBC.
Wild horses by source.”

The running back reportedly plans to play against the Denver Broncos after receiving official clearance.
He is still listed as questionable and his official availability will be announced before the start of the game.

Minnesota Vikings’ RB depth chart

If Mattison cannot play on Sunday Night Football in Week 11, Ty Chandler is expected to receive his first start for the Minnesota Vikings. He recently became the RB2 on their roster after Cam Akers suffered a season-ending injury. The Denver Broncos currently rank dead-last in rushing defense, so this is an enticing matchup for their backfield. Here is how the Minnesota Vikings depth chart at running back currently looks:
