The Cleveland Browns completed their second consecutive last-minute win on Sunday as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A DTR and two drives beat the Steelers.

Cleveland’s offense struggled with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson for most of the game, but he led the two most important drives.

The Cleveland Browns picked up their second straight win with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

A week ago, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Deshaun Watson led the Browns to victory with a 40-yard touchdown to Dustin Hopkins at the buzzer.

With Watson out for the season with a shoulder injury this week, the Browns turned to rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and while it was difficult at times, the result was the same with a 48-yard touchdown pass from Hopkins to gives the Browns the win.

Much of the credit for today’s win goes to the defense, which held the Steelers to 249 yards of total offense, went 3-of-14 on third down and forced fumbles on nine of its 13 offensive drives Pittsburgh. Hopkins was perfect through three plays, and punter Corey Bojorquez remained a weapon, trapping the Steelers inside the 20-yard line three times.

But that shouldn’t detract from DTR’s performance that day, where he exceeded his raw numbers, completing 24-of-43 passes for 165 yards, no interceptions and a 32.3 quarterback rating.

Because without Thompson-Robinson’s performance and the offense late in the first half and late in the game, the Browns would not have won this game.

After a Pittsburgh drive late in the second quarter, DTR led the Browns on a 17-play, 77-yard drive that lasted 5 minutes, 24 seconds.

Despite a first-and-goal from the Browns’ 6-yard line and the drive ending in a field goal, DTR moved the chains and kept the ball out of Pittsburgh’s hands.
There was a scoring opportunity late in the first half when the Steelers got the ball to start the second half.

And, of course, there was the game-winning drive in which Thompson-Robinson led the Browns on eight plays for 48 yards and set up Hopkins for the game-winning touchdown on fourth-and-4.

Before that drive, the Browns offense had the ball on six offensive plays in the second half, resulting in one interception, five scores and 58 yards of total offense.

Aside from the defensive play, the game could have been won if the Browns hadn’t scored on their own end, or if the Steelers had allowed a pass with 24 seconds left and given Pittsburgh another chance, as they did in their last offensive streak.

The drive also validated the work DTR has done since Week 4 and rewarded the coaching staff’s faith in him by giving him his second start, he said after the game (citing via a transcript provided by team).

“They believed in me, they believed in me and I believed in my teammates.
I told myself throughout the game that the most important thing was to stay disciplined and take it one step at a time.

If it’s week 4 of a game, there are times when you’re forced to tip or choose another tip or whatever. Like I said, it will be night and day when I leave.
I worked really hard and I’m glad my team was there.

“I’m really excited.
I’m excited to go out there in front of my teammates and, like I said, be able to practice reps all week and make mistakes.

Therefore, these errors will not be discussed on Sunday. We had one instance where we got a piece wrong during the week which was adjusted today and it was a big help as we went along.

It may be tougher than fans hoped, but the Browns have proven once again that they are a resilient team that ultimately finds ways to win instead of finding innovative ways to lose games.

Thompson-Robinson and the offense will have to be better than they were today for the Browns to make the playoffs, but they were good enough when needed to get a big win against a best Steelers team in the normal. We will find a way to win.
