SANTA CLARA: On Wednesday, Brock Purdy received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, a distinction shared by only two 49ers quarterbacks in the previous eleven years.

Purdy’s highest-ever passer rating of 158.3 was attained during the 49ers’ Week 11 27-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With 25 or more attempts in a game, he is the only player in 49ers history to record a perfect passer score, making him the 23rd person in NFL history to do it.

In the Buccaneers game at Levi’s Stadium, Purdy completed 21 of 25 passes for 333 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

After reviewing the game tape, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan stated, “He played at a real high level, made real good decisions, and was very smart with the ball.” “He performed as his stats suggested. It was really striking.

Purdy, 23, was selected with the 262nd and final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and is currently in his first full season as a starter with the 49ers. He’s inserted himself into the conversation to win the NFL MVP award.

The 49ers quarterback who won NFC Offensive Player of the Week before was Jimmy Garoppolo. Following the 49ers’ thrilling 48-46 victory against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14 of 2019. Garoppolo completed 26 of 35 passes for 349 with four touchdowns and one interception.

The 49ers had not had a quarterback win the award since 2012 before Garoppolo. Both Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith received awards for their exceptional efforts in that season.

In a victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, Smith completed 18 of 19 passes. That was his last game in its entirety with the team. In the 49ers’ following game, he suffered a concussion and never was able to return to the starting lineup.

In Week 15, Kaepernick’s four touchdowns on a soggy evening helped lead the team to a 41-34 victory away from the New England Patriots, earning him the title of NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
