This is Minnesota. – The Vikings announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Sheldon Day has joined their 53-man practice roster. Minnesota also added outside linebacker Austin Bryant to its practice squad.

The Vikings waived wide receiver Trishton Jackson to make room for the Suns on the 53-man roster. Minnesota released wide receiver Dan Chisena from the practice squad to make room for Bryant.

Day first joined Minnesota’s practice squad in December 2022. He renewed his contract with the club last January and spent the offseason with the team, but has not played a game in Cleveland since 2021.

The Sun played in 67 regular season games with Jacksonville (22 games in 2016-17), San Francisco (34 games in 2017-19), Indianapolis (4 games in 2020) and Cleveland (7 games in 2021) . He totaled 76 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, seven sacks and seven passes defensed.

The 29-year-old from Indianapolis was paired with Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah for the 49ers and appeared in three playoff games during the 2019 season, including Super Bowl LIV. Bryant appeared in 35 games (33 with Detroit and two with San Francisco) and started six games for the Lions in 2020-21.

He appeared in five of 14 games with the Lions in 2021, recording career tackles (31), tackles for loss (five), quarterback hits (six) and a career-high 4.5 sacks. He recorded 36 defensive tackles for the 49ers this season and appeared in two games (Week 1 at Pittsburgh and Week 5 vs. Dallas).

The Georgia native played his college football at Clemson and first entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the Lions in the 2019 NFL Draft. Jackson spent time on Minnesota’s active roster and practice squad.

He has appeared in six games this season, making the 21-year-old’s memorable performance against Atlanta when he caught a two-point conversion pass from Joshua Dobbs.

Chisena returned to the Vikings as a member of the practice squad last October but has not played in a game this season. Appeared in 27 Vikings games from 2020 to 2022, mostly on special teams.
