He reached out to me’ – Hamilton denies approaching Horner regarding possible 2024 Red Bull seat
Lewis Hamilton has denied claims that he approached Christian Horner earlier this season about the possibility of driving for Red Bull, instead saying that the Team Principal made the first contact.
Before the season finale in Abu Dhabi this coming weekend, Hamilton was questioned over Horner’s remarks. “I haven’t approached Christian; neither have I spoken to Christian in years, nor has anyone on my team,” he stated.

“I’ve checked with everyone, and none of my teammates have gotten in touch with him. But he had contacted me about getting together at the conclusion of the season.
I then said, “I hope all is well with you, congratulations on an incredible season thus far, and I hope to be able to compete with you soon.”
Without a 2024 deal with Mercedes, Hamilton started the season unsigned, which sparked a lot of media speculation that he may leave the Silver Arrows after ten years and join one of their competitors in the paddock.
However, when it was revealed that Hamilton had extended his contract with Mercedes for another two years back in September, those rumors were put to rest.
But this week, a rumor emerged in which Horner stated that he was contacted by one of Hamilton’s advisors about the Briton driving for Red Bull in 2024. The seven-time world champion was also alleged to have spoken with Ferrari in earlier reports; however, Hamilton refuted this earlier in the year.
Hamilton’s focus will now go to the track, where Mercedes and Ferrari are vying for second place in the constructors’ championship. Hamilton and his group know they have their job cut out for them if they are to win, as they lead the Scuderia by just four points.
Hamilton stated, “I mean, I wish we weren’t in the position we were in.” “I wish we had that comfortable buffer for a while back where we were.
“But I suppose it just means we have to put in more effort this weekend, and I am forward for the fight. I’m not sure what we will be able to accomplish because Ferrari is usually really swift here, but I’m optimistic.
