Vikings add breakout QB prospect in recent 2024 mock draft

A recent 2024 mock draft has the Minnesota Vikings selecting LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels

As of the now, Yahoo Sports projects the Minnesota Vikings to choose current LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Minnesota Vikings are among the teams that may decide to select a quarterback with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after Kirk Cousins becomes a free agency following the 2023 campaign.

That is exactly what the Vikings will be doing in the 2024 draft, if things go as Yahoo Sports’ Nate Tice thinks they could.

In a recent 2024 mock draft shared by Tice, he has Minnesota using their first-round pick to select current LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels

Is Jayden Daniels the next quarterback to lead the Minnesota Vikings?

Considering how intriguing the Vikings’ offense has become during the last few weeks with a more mobile quarterback under center in Josh Dobbs, Daniels winding up in purple and gold next year is definitely believable.

Daniels is slightly smaller than the average NFL starting quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds. However, his talent level more than makes up for his lack of physique, especially once he transferred to LSU in 2022.

Since the 2022 season began, Daniels has played in 25 games at LSU. He has completed 70.3% of his throws for 6,490 yards (259.6 per game), 53 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. Daniels has also rushed for 1,899 yards (76 per game) and another 21 scores.

Thus far in less than two complete seasons at the university, the young quarterback prospect has scored 74 touchdowns in all. What Daniels has accomplished while wearing an LSU uniform is quite remarkable for a player who plays in what is likely the hardest conference in college football.

With Minnesota unlikely to have a high enough first-round pick in 2024 to select USC’s Caleb Williams or North Carolina’s Drake Maye, could Daniels be the quarterback prospect they attempt to land with their top pick next spring?
