After losing a crucial Red Bull ally, Max Verstappen snatches the coach of F1 opponent Carlos Sainz.
In reaction to losing his performance coach, Max Verstappen hired a new trainer from a rival Formula 1 team.
After four years alongside the Dutchman, Bradley Scanes is departing Red Bull Racing. His final race in that capacity was the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, though, as the former Southend United physio left to spend more time at home.
Verstappen has found his successor with minimal delay. In the New Year, Rupert Manwaring will take over as the triple world champion’s trainer, replacing Scanes.
Manwaring has been associated with Carlos Sainz for the last eight seasons, making him well-known in the F1 paddock. Alongside the Spaniard, he transitioned from Toro Rosso to McLaren and ultimately to his present team, Ferrari.
However, Verstappen will be in a good position to defend his title when the competition resumes because Red Bull has a considerable advantage over their competitors when it comes to developing their 2024 cars.
However, he is adamant that he cannot see Red Bull having it nearly so simple again the next season.
Following the race in Abu Dhabi, he stated, “It was an amazing season.” The final lap, my final ride in the car that has obviously given me so much, was a little emotional. Naturally, I’m thrilled to have won the championship race, and I want to congratulate Red Bull for an amazing year. While it will be challenging to replicate this year, we had a great time.
