After a delay caused by the medical helicopter not showing up for the scheduled 09:00 start time, there were two red flags.
Russell was the first driver on the track when running did start, followed by Sergio Perez of Red Bull.
Thirty-five minutes later, a water leak between Turns 13 and 14—the short section beneath the hotel—brought out the red flag.

The leak originated from the left side of the circuit and was quite large. A 24-minute delay occurred as officials cleared it using a truck and blowers.

Although he had been on the circuit multiple times, Lance Stroll was at the other end of the timesheets with no lap time to his name.

Additionally, the tire compounds won’t change, at least not until the beginning of 2024.

Mercedes claims that a problem with the vehicle caused the collision, which severely damaged the front-right corner.
In Yas Marina, the collision occurred on Russell’s 59th lap—just over the entire race distance—and resulted in a 28-minute delay.
Following four hours of competition, Sainz recorded the quickest time for Ferrari with 69 laps at 1:24.799.
