Prior to the Rams game, the Browns decide on quarterback Joe Flacco.

If Dorian Thompson-Robinson is unable to play for the Cleveland Browns against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Joe Flacco will start.

The Browns promoted Flacco to No. 2 on Wednesday. The veteran replaced P.J.’s primary backup. Thompson-Robinson. I skipped Walker. Walker also started competing this season.

Flacco got the start while Thompson-Robinson was sidelined with a concussion. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced the move on Wednesday, Nov. 29, before practice in Los Angeles. “We work seven days a week,” Stefanski said. “This week, Joe has taken on a backup role while Dorian goes through the protocols.”

The Browns need to rally this week after losing 29-12 to the Denver Broncos. Cleveland has a 7-4 record and needs to add some wins to stay in the AFC playoff contention. Flacco is expected to be promoted to the active roster in the coming days.

Joe Flacco takes off in Cleveland.

Flacco is 38 years old and has considerable experience, including a Super Bowl win with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. Flacco was named the Super Bowl MVP for that game. He last started a game for the New York Jets in 2022.

He passed for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in four starts. As of now, Flacco appears to be the best option for the Browns offense. With Deshaun Watson out for the season, the Browns have averaged 11 points per game in two games.

Flacco has been inactive against the Broncos since signing a few days ago. But the Browns are pleased with the veteran’s progress in his final road game.

“You know, Joe’s been in other systems and other buildings, so he knows how it works,” Stefanski said. “He understands that every task has different nuances. That’s how he knows what we’re doing. He did a good job.”

Flacco has a career record of 99-81, including 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions. He also boasts a 10-5 record in the postseason, which would be valuable for the Browns to bring back.

Joe Flacco wants to prove he can still play.

“To some degree, football is all I know,” Flacco said on Nov. 22. “It’s still fun. You feel like you have something left in the tank, so you should keep playing your favorite game until you feel like you can’t anymore.

The Browns face a Rams team that has won its last two games after starting 3-6. Cleveland lost this game by 3.5 points.
