Source Projects Bills to Receive $75M in Running Back Offseason Trade
The Buffalo Bills made some improvements to their running game last season with the addition of veterans Latavius Murray and Damien Harris, while talented sophomore James Cook was introduced.
One insider believes the Bills will make an even bigger move in 2024, trading five-time Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara to increase versatility. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kaye offered an early guess as to where the top pick might end up, suggesting the Bills could put a high price on the 28-year-old.
The bill increased by $75 million.
Key noted that Kamara signed a five-year, $75 million contract with the New Orleans Saints that will keep him there through the 2025 season. However, Kamara has been the subject of trade rumors in recent seasons, and Key predicts this will be the year the Saints make a deal.
Kamara is mature enough to be a running back, but Key suggested it would still cost a lot for the Bills to land him. “Even if the seniors don’t make a ton of money for a 28-year-old running back who relies on his speed to build defenses, Kamara could get a decent amount back,” Key predicted. He exercises great power on earth. He has 457 yards and two touchdowns on 119 carries in eight games this year. But he’s still a dangerous pass catcher. He has 54 catches on 61 targets for 355 yards and a 3-yard score. return. Game break from week 4.
Kei Kamara said he would be a good fit for the Bills, who fell to 6-6 on the season but are viewed as perennial contenders who could use some tweaking in a Super Bowl run. “Any team with Kamara can experience its offense being a dynamic step back from championship contention,” Key wrote. “He may no longer be one of the most powerful talents in the NFL, but Kamara can contribute in multiple ways and will be a consistent scoring threat for the next team that uses him properly.”
The Bills are looking for another veteran.
The Bills could make a move on Kamara this offseason, but they have a standout player waiting in the wings in the 2017 draft. The Bills signed veteran Leonard Fournette to the practice squad in October after Harris was placed on injured reserve, but Fournette has yet to make his season debut.
Bills reporter Maddie Glab reported on Nov. 17 that coach Sean McDermott predicted Fournette would see the field soon, but he remained on the practice squad for the next two games. “Sean McDermott said Leonard Fournette is a good addition to the team and will continue to learn the offense. McDermott said he will be ‘very focused’ on being called up in the next few weeks, if not this week,” wrote Glab X. Known formerly as Twitter.
Instead, the Bills have looked for contributions from former practice squad quarterback Ty Johnson, who has 77 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns over the past two games.
