Out of the 19 races he won, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has selected the highlights from his incredible season behind the wheel of the RB19, highlighting three that stand out above the others.
On his way to a third consecutive drivers’ title and a second consecutive constructors’ title in 2023, Verstappen finished on the top step of the podium at every Grand Prix except three. He and the Milton Keynes team achieved a new level of domination during this time.
Verstappen stated during the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, “I think the comeback race in Miami was great, that was an important one.” Verstappen was thinking back on his best triumphs to date.
“I think that after the difficult weekend we had in Singapore, winning at Suzuka and at home at Zandvoort was very nice.”
Verstappen was questioned about how difficult it is to maintain motivation and hunger in the face of such success and supremacy in order to win more awards.
“I think driving is the most important thing to be here, first and foremost,” he said. Of course, the best thing in Formula One is to win.
Naturally, the knowledge that I have a good chance of winning at the majority of the races this year provides me with drive.
“I believe it’s more difficult when you’ve been there and eventually reach a point where it’s no longer feasible. At that point, it becomes more difficult to stay motivated. You should make an effort to investigate several options for maintaining your motivation.
“But right now, being at the top is obviously easier than being in the middle of the pack,” the speaker said.
Verstappen finished the year with 19 race victories, 21 podiums, 12 pole positions, nine fastest laps, and a total of 575 points, 290 ahead of teammate and closest competitor Sergio Perez.
