Ravens Take A Shot at Joe Flacco Following Browns’ First Start
Following his first start, Joe Flacco of the Cleveland Browns received a note from the Baltimore Ravens.
In his Cleveland Browns debut on Sunday, Joe Flacco did not receive support from the Baltimore Ravens, despite his history with the franchise.
After being selected by the Ravens in the first round in 2008, Flacco spent 11 seasons in Baltimore. In 2013, he won MVP of the game and assisted in leading the squad to a Super Bowl.
Although Flacco is revered in Baltimore, the team he played for more than ten years suddenly opposes him. John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Ravens, stated as much in his remarks on Monday, December 4.
Naturally, Harbaugh stated, “I was rooting against Joe and the Browns.” We took that action. I think Joe did a great job. Although he looked great, I was unable to support him yesterday.
In the AFC North standings, the Browns are pursuing the Ravens. Week 14 finds the Browns two games behind the Ravens, despite a disappointing 36-19 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. A victory would have narrowed the division competition.
Harbaugh’s jab is all in good humor. After Flacco signed with the Browns, he had already wished him the best.
Joe is going to love that. I saw that Joe had mentioned several times that he still wanted to play and had a lot of juice left, Harbaugh remarked. “I have no doubts about Joe. Joe has never left me in doubt. He is the fiercest rival. So, we’ll wait and see.
Unless they play in the playoffs, the Browns will not see the Ravens again this season. Their season series is tied, with the Browns winning the most recent game 33–31.
Joe Flacco Impressive in Browns’ Opening Action
In the defeat, Flacco completed 23 of 44 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, his lone error happened at the wrong moment. The Browns were down one point with 6:32 remaining in the game when Flacco fired up a deep pass intended for Elijah Moore. John Johnson III, a safety for the Rams, picked him off and returned it deep into Browns territory.
A few plays later, the Rams converted the turnover into a touchdown.
Flacco remarked, “Yeah, I’m just upset at myself,” following the game. “Hey, I’m sure I can play. I believe that each time you step onto the field, you’re undoubtedly demonstrating to both yourself and other people that you are capable of playing the game, but at this point, that’s not how I’m thinking about it because I know deep down that I am capable of playing.
“I honestly enjoy playing these games, and my mentality is one of self-disappointment. When the fourth quarter rolls along, things are likely to get tight and ugly.
I believe that close games requiring well-considered judgments are my strong suits. That’s why it stings a little to not deliver in that kind of situation.
Joe Flacco will not start for the Browns this week.
What was otherwise a strong day for Flacco—who was unquestionably better than PJ Walker or Dorian Thompson-Robinson at quarterback—was marred by the interception.
On Monday, December 4, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski stated, “I thought Joe did a nice job.” “When entering and exiting the meeting, we were punctual. We were far from flawless. We made a couple less-than-ideal alignment-related decisions.
However, I felt Joe performed admirably in the huddle, as one should anticipate from a seasoned player like Joe.
Although Stefanski may have been pleased with Flacco’s performance, he is not yet prepared to name him the starting quarterback moving forward.
Stefanski declared, “I’m not going to get into those kinds of things on Monday.” “We’ll figure that out.”
Thompson-Robinson would be the alternative. The rookie is still undergoing concussion protocol, though. Walker is ranked third on the depth chart and has started games this season.
