Max Verstappen is upset that the FIA has hit Red Bull with a hefty Formula One cost.
Red Bull and Max Verstappen smashed single-season F1 records on their way to victory this year, but the team paid a heavy price for their accomplishment.
Max Verstappen believes a revision of the Formula 1 entry fee system is necessary since his Red Bull team is facing an unprecedented expense.
Red Bull easily won the constructors’ championship with a remarkable 860 points. Verstappen broke his own record from the previous year, scoring 575 of those points alone.
But they pay a heavy price for their success because of the extant FIA entry fee structure. To be able to defend their titles, the team needs to pay the governing body record fees.
For the 2024, each driver must pay a basic fee of £8,919.
The American’s entry fee is a mere one percent of what Verstappen must pay to race in the following year. The Dutchman set a new record for an F1 driver by owing the FIA £1,043,919 for his continuous grid attendance.
Thankfully, Red Bull will foot the price, saving him from having to use any of his £40 million annual salary to pay for his licence. However, he continues to believe that the system should be examined in light of the accomplishments he and his team made this year.
