Lewis Hamilton has faith in Mercedes after a disappointing visit
Lewis Hamilton has reiterated his frustration that Mercedes are ignoring his contributions when relying on the team to avoid repeating past mistakes at the start of F1 2023.
Mercedes decided to follow the principle of “no consequences” in F1 2023, but it did not take long to realize that they were wrong. The Monaco Grand Prix signaled that Mercedes is starting to take that approach, just months after seven-time world champion Hamilton made it clear how he felt about the situation.
Lewis Hamilton hopes Mercedes’ faith will be rewarded
Hamilton’s filter was removed at the start of F1 2023, claiming that Mercedes did not listen to his views on what was needed in W14, leaving Mercedes to face their first winless season since 2011. However, there have been rumors that Hamilton could leave Mercedes at the end of his contract, which has strongly linked him to Ferrari, and Hamilton is said to be citing Mercedes’ new terms in the document. By the end of 2025.
A return to top form is the aim for F1 2024 and Hamilton hopes his team has learned from its mistakes to deliver the bulk of the performance needed to take on Red Bull, now the dominant force in F1. Asked if he was considering leaving Mercedes or pulling out during the recent contract negotiations, Hamilton told Sports Base that he has no intention of doing so while we are still in negotiations.
“I’m confident we’ll get there. We’ve been here as a team before and even though there are a lot of new people, we still have great values and I can see that everyone really cares.
“It’s easy to have really good conversations with everyone in the factory to make the difference and make the right decisions, but it’s easy to get lost. “I thought the fundamentals were good this year, but they weren’t. So I was disappointed when they didn’t make the changes I asked for in February. “But I hope the changes we make are the right ones, but I don’t think we know what the Red Bulls are going to do.”
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has said the “conventional” W15 will appear on the grid for F1 2024, taking a further step towards Red Bull’s concept.
