After a P2 result in the WCC, Lewis Hamilton says of Mercedes’ “hard work” this season, “The future is bright.”
Ace Mercedes Lewis Hamilton, who led the Silver Arrows to second place in the 2023 Formula One Constructors’ Championship, is confident about the upcoming seasons.
Mercedes, the eight-time Constructors’ champion, has declined from its earlier glories during the last two seasons. The German team, who dropped as low as third in the standings, lost its championship to Red Bull Racing in the 2022 campaign.
Mercedes beat Ferrari in the season’s last race, despite the team’s inability to win any races in 2023. They defeated the Prancing Horse by a three-point difference, good for second place behind Red Bull.
Lewis Hamilton thinks that even if the team currently seems to be in Red Bull’s shadow, better things are ahead.
“I think it’s really important also to just take a moment this year, just to acknowledge the hard work, and just how great you are and what we’ve overcome, and know that the future is bright.”
Lews Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, received a trophy during the most recent FIA Prize Gala in Baku after placing third in the drivers’ standings behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
But there were internet reports that Lewis Hamilton was “giving away” his P3 trophy.
When a fan posted images of themselves online claiming to be Hamilton’s winner, rumors started to spread.Mercedes, however, answered right away and denied any such allegations.
“Immediately after leaving the stage, and as has been done at previous prizegivings, Lewis accepted the award,” the team said in an official statement.
