Lewis Hamilton comment on Mercedes’ “hard work” this season, following a P2 finish in the WCC, “The future is bright”.
Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are upbeat about next season after the Silver Arrows finished second in the 2023 F1 Constructors’ Championship. Eight-time constructors’ champion Mercedes has lost some of its former glory in the last two seasons.
The German team lost their crown to Red Bull Racing in the 2022 season and finished third in the standings. Despite the team failing to secure a win in 2023, Mercedes overtook Ferrari in the final race of the season. They beat Calul Ras by three points and finished second behind Red Bull. The team currently appears to be in Red Bull’s shadow, but Lewis Hamilton believes better things are ahead.
Mercedes’ horizon for next season. Hamilton, who gave the team’s closing remarks at a recent press conference, emphasized the importance of acknowledging the efforts and obstacles overcome during the season. The 38-year-old said:
“I think it’s really important also to just take a moment this year, just to acknowledge the hard work, and just how great you are and what we’ve overcome, and know that the future is bright.”
“We want it, we’re willing, we can do it. So, yeah, have an amazing time. Thank you so much.”
Mercedes have denied rumors that Lewis
Hamilton is ‘giving away’ his P3 prize.
After finishing third in the drivers’ standings behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, the seven-time world champion was presented with the trophy at the recent FIA Awards in Baku.
However, there are rumors online that Lewis Hamilton will win the P3 award. Speculation grew when a fan got hold of Hamilton’s trophy and posted a photo of it online. However, Mercedes quickly responded and denied these claims. In an official statement, the team explained:
“Immediately after leaving the stage, and as has been done at previous prizegivings, Lewis accepted the offer from officials for the trophy to be sent on to the team and therefore left it in their care. We can confirm he did not give the trophy to anyone ‘as a gift’ as has been speculated.”
It’s unclear how this issue will play out, and supporters are waiting for further information.
