Transfer offensive linemen Kahlil Benson and Justin Mayers have committed to the CU Buffs.
It was clear to everyone who watched Colorado this past season that the Buffs lacked offensive line support. Thankfully, they haven’t spent any time this offseason in expanding the line.
Later in the evening on Saturday, Colorado was able to acquire commitments from two more transfer offensive lineman, Tyler Johnson and Yakiri Walker, following their early commitments.
Justin Mayers, a former guard from UTEP, was first. One of the best lineman available in the transfer portal, the 6-foot-3, 310-pound road grader could be a favorite to start at one of the guard positions for the upcoming season. Mayers was also chosen for honorable mention in the All-Conference USA in 2022.
After landing Johson and Walker, fans were ecstatic to receive Mayers, but the good news didn’t end there for the day.
Former Indiana offensive tackle Kahlil Benson made the decision to follow through on his commitment shortly after Mayers made it known, providing new offensive line coach Phil Loadholt with four additional recruits to bolster his group.
Benson, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 310 pounds, is a standout pass-protection player who started 12 games for the Hoosiers last season.
