The Browns subsequently turned to Joe Flacco, an experienced option that they had signed to their practice squad before making the roster for Week 13’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14, Flacco received another start and played well.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, head coach of the Browns Kevin Stefanski has decided to start Flacco for the remainder of the season.
Flacco put on a fantastic effort, moving the ball downfield and keeping the Jaguars secondary under pressure.
David Njoku and Joe Flacco connected well, as the two scored two touchdowns apiece. Flacco’s third of the day was scored by Kareem Hunt.
Making Flacco the starting quarterback going forward is the smartest course of action for Cleveland, who is 8-5 and still very much in the running for the AFC playoffs.
