Lewis Hamilton Hopeful for Mercedes’ performance in the 2024 F1 season despite current challenges
At the 2023 FIA prize-giving ceremony, Lewis Hamilton was presented with a trophy for coming third in the recently ended season. But Nihad Nesirli, who was there at the prize-giving ceremony, uploaded many photos of Hamilton’s FIA trophy to X and said that the seven-time world champion handed it away during the event, which prompted Mercedes and the FIA to intervene.
Journalist with Sports Base reports that one of the gala’s sources stated the trophy was sent to an FIA official to be kept secure. Mercedes has also publicly said that they do not believe Hamilton has donated the reward to a fan.
The trophy’s current whereabouts are unclear, and an investigation has been started into it.
