Due to a torn pectoral, Browns player Ogbo Okoronkwo is probably out for the season. S Grant Delpit will miss the last four games due to a groin injury.
As they attempt to make their first postseason appearance since 2020, the Cleveland Browns will be without two important defensive players.
Grant Delpit, the Browns’ top tackler, suffered a groin injury on Wednesday and was placed on injured reserve. As a result, he will miss at least the team’s remaining four games of the regular season. Defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo may also miss the remainder of the season due to a pectoral injury, according to a source who spoke to ESPN. In Sunday’s 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, both players sustained injuries.
Delpit, who had surgery, might “potentially” return for the postseason, according to Browns coach Kevin Stefanski on Wednesday.
The Browns’ leading tackler with 80 is Delpit. He inked a $36 million, three-year contract deal over the weekend, including a guaranteed $23 million.
With 4.5 sacks, Okoronkwo is second on the team after Myles Garrett. He has 12 tackles for loss as well.
This season, Cleveland has seen a slew of injuries that have ended the season, including injuries to quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) and All-Pro running back Nick Chubb (knee). The Browns revealed this week that starting offensive tackles Dawand Jones (knee) and Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee) will miss the remainder of the year.
Cleveland (8-5) is the last team left in the AFC wild-card battle as the No. 5 seed, despite the injuries. On Sunday, the Browns take on the Chicago Bears.
The Browns signed veteran safety Duron Harmon from their practice squad Wednesday to fill the roster spot opened when Delpit was put on IR
