Following the most recent injury news, Browns Prime Suitor for a Three-Time All-Pro DT
In order to help cover the vacuum left by Maurice Hurst Jr.’s season-ending injury, the Cleveland Browns should consider calling up former All-Pro Ndamukong Suh.
Hurst joined the Browns in the summer, and his impressive play earned him a spot in the starting lineup. This season, he racked up 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss.
In addition, the large player recorded three passes defended and an interception. Hurst participated in special teams play and played in 39% of defensive snaps.
Hurst wrote on X, “My 2023 season is over, and the frustration is unbearable.” “However I am grateful to my teammates, coaches, staff, and the city of Cleveland for welcoming me and making me a part of this family. I’ll be back better than before.”
The notion of Suh visiting the city to support the Browns’ defensive line won many supporters.
One admirer wrote, “Ndamukong Suh is sitting at home.” “Browns, just saying.”
Ndamukong Suh, a free agent, aspires to return.
There aren’t many choices available to the Browns to replace Hurst right now in the season. However, Suh is a well-known player who is still unsigned and with whom the Browns have previously been connected. According to former Detroit News columnist Terry Foster, the second overall pick in the 2010 draft has been reaching out to multiple organizations in an attempt to make a comeback.
Foster stated on “The Woodward Heavyweights podcast on December 10” that Suh “reached out to the Lions about playing here, but he reached out to like four or five other teams also.”
Thus, he extended the invitation to come here at first. Suh has spent a lot of time in Detroit in recent months. Here, he has investments. When he was a gamer, he wanted to get the hell out of here, but now he’s welcoming this community more than before.
Foster claims that the Browns are a potential suitor for Suh and that the Lions were not interested in acquiring him. With Jim Schwartz calling the plays, Cleveland has the best defense in the NFL and is right in the heart of the AFC playoff chase.
Suh Knows Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator for the Browns
Schwartz and Suh were acquainted; during Suh’s tenure as head coach of the Lions. He is 36 years old but proved last season that he can still be a viable contributor, even in a smaller role.
Midway through the 2022 season, he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he appeared on little more than one-third of their defensive snaps after that. Suh had a grade of 64.2 overall from Pro Football Focus.
Currently, Jordan Elliott and Dalvin Tomlinson are the Browns’ starting line-ups. Elliott, though, is battling a concussion and might not be ready to play this week.
The latest in a heartbreaking series of injuries suffered by the Browns was the news regarding Hurst. Dawand Jones and Jedrick Wills Jr., two offensive tackles, will miss the remainder of the season. Grant Delpit, the starting safety, may also be placed on injured reserve.
The Browns’ season has been characterized by injuries despite their 8-5 record. Quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder), Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb (knee), receiver Jakeem Grant (knee), linebacker Jacob Phillips (pectoral) and safety Rodney McLeod (torn biceps) have all been lost for the year.
