Sean Kelly, an F1 expert, believes Fernando Alonso’s career path ought to have resembled that of Lewis Hamilton’s.
They have witnessed and competed in multiple F1 eras and are currently the oldest and most seasoned drivers on the grid.
In terms of race victories and trophies, though, one of them is significantly more successful than the other.
Kelly said this on The Race F1 podcast in reference to Lewis Hamilton’s drive to pursue victories despite his prior achievements. He stated:
“The inspiration of Lewis Hamilton, who has amassed 103 victories and seven world titles, and who may have had the career that Fernando Alonso deserved if he had taken the proper career decisions.”
Alonso has only won 32 races and two world championships in his 20 years as a Formula 1 racer; in contrast, Hamilton has won 103 races and seven world titles in just 17 years.

Speaking with the media, notably Sportskeeda, Alonso asserted that Hamilton is an F1 great and that he never makes a mistake.
“He’s a legend of our sport,” he declared. We saw in Australia, and I believe we played around with the distance for a little while, spending the entire race within two seconds of each others.
