Pittsburgh Steelers have made a roster move to bolster a thin position on the defense.
As the Pittsburgh Steelers hit the road for a pivotal matchup with fellow a AFC playoff contender in the Indianapolis Colts, they’ve made a roster move to bolster a thin position on the defense.
To help cover for a handful of injuries at inside linebacker, the Steelers elevated Kyron Johnson from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive roster ahead of their contest at Lucas Oil Stadium, the team announced.
The Steelers were already thin at inside linebacker with Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander having suffered season-ending injuries. Then Elandon Roberts, one of the few starter-capable players at the position for the Steelers right now, suffered a groin injury.
Roberts left the Cardinals game two weeks ago early after sustaining the injury to his groin but returned to action the following week and played the entirety of the Patriots game. Roberts did not have an injury designation following the final practice of the week, meaning he should be good to go against the Colts, but whether he’ll be at 100% remains to be seen.
Mykal Walker, Mark Robinson and Blake Martinez have been thrust into bigger and bigger roles as the Steelers try to make up for all the linebacker attrition they’ve suffered this season.
