After Red Bull and Max Verstappen easily won the world championships the previous season, Formula One teams are putting a lot of effort into getting their drivers and cars ready for an improved 2024 campaign.

In a pointed challenge to teams like Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and McLaren, Verstappen has asked his competitors to provide more competition the following year.

Over the past two years, Red Bull has dominated Formula One, and Verstappen has already won the drivers’ championship three times in a row.

Lewis Hamilton is still securely in the lead with seven world titles and is going for a record-tying eighth.

The Mercedes driver, who had a poor season with George Russell, will be looking for a much better 2024.

Hamilton cautioned that Russell can defeat him.

Although Mercedes produces a championship-winning car the next year, Martin Brundle has claimed he cannot declare with certainty that Lewis Hamilton will overcome George Russell.

When asked which of the two would win, Brundle sat idly by and cautioned Hamilton that Russell might possess the mental toughness to defeat him.

“If you look at the stats, I think those two are really close,” Brundle said.

However, George experienced a few terrifying races this year. It’s a really valid question. Lewis’s ability to sustain his present motivation will determine the outcome, but it’s too close to say.

Lewis is capable of doing that, but George benefits from youth. I have no idea how to respond to that.

Hamilton instructed Verstappen to lose.
The goal for Lewis Hamilton is to contend for the World Drivers’ Championship in 2024.

According to Mercedes technical director James Allison, the Silver Arrows’ only focus for the upcoming season should be on competing for the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships.

This is in response to Hamilton’s and George Russell’s difficult 2022 and 2023 seasons.

“I don’t know,” was Allison’s response when asked if Mercedes could compete with Red Bull and Max Verstappen on the Performance People podcast.

“Hopefully, we have implemented a sufficient work program that we have challenged ourselves to resume in order to be competitive.”

Do you mean winning a race when you say “winning ways”?

Whether it proves sufficient or not, only time will tell, but that’s what I’m hoping for us and I know that all my colleagues and team-mates around me will be hoping for the same.”
