Secrets to Fernando Alonso’s long life in Formula One.

Secrets to Fernando Alonso’s long life in Formula One.

Fernando Alonso has shared his thoughts on why he thought his two greatest Formula One seasons were 2012 and 2023.

The Spaniard didn’t have high hopes for the outcome coming into the recently finished season.

He had transferred to Aston Martin, who ended seventh, from Alpine, which had placed fourth in the previous season’s standings.

The transfer was seen with some surprise, particularly as Alonso had fit in so well at Alpine and seemed to be making good progress as well.

But it was evident from the first test in Bahrain that Aston Martin had a competitive vehicle capable of producing outstanding outcomes.

In the season’s opening race, Alonso took full advantage of the opportunity and Alonso said that the 2023 Formula One season was the finest since 2012, when he nearly won the championship with Ferrari, after finishing the season with eight podium finishes.

There are a few times in your life and career when you connect with the car in a different way, Alonso said in response to a question on why he thought his season was going so well in an Aston Martin Q&A segment.

It’s hard to put into words, but you feel like you’re one with the car, you trust it, and you’re doing things like overtaking or even turning a corner in a way that didn’t make sense when you first thought about it.”

Fernando Alonso was also questioned on his longevity in F1 and how he was still able to be this motivated despite the demands of the sport.

The Spaniard stressed the importance of moderation more than anything else in what helps him stay on top of his game.

“When you’re young, you make some mistakes: you try to do everything, you try to be everywhere, but you can’t do that and then perform at your maximum and be 100 percent when the time comes to drive the car.

Now, I think I regulate more than ever. I know what affects me, what drains my battery, and I try to be as efficient as possible,” he explained.

Alonso, who ended the 2023 F1 season with as many as eight podiums to his name, will be hoping to continue the trajectory of growth in the coming season as well.
