Steelers Projected to Acquire ‘Special’ QB in Blockbuster Trade
The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded their first-round pick for an established player or for a higher selection in three of the last five years.
On December 19, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports made the case that it might occur once more in 2024.
Wilson predicted that the Steelers will take Washington quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Michael Penix Jr. at No. 10 in his most recent 2024 NFL mock draft, moving up from their current position at No. 16.
According to Wilson, the Steelers’ offense seems to be from the 1850s rather than the 1950s, as he stated on CBS Sports Network.
“And with Michael Penix Jr., you’re getting a guy who can throw the deep ball,” And you can imagine that Diontae Johnson and George Pickens like In 2019, Wilson writes, “The Steelers traded up to No. 10 for LB Devin Bush.”
“They ought to think about moving up for a quarterback in April—at the very least, to that level.
They must stop dwelling on their errors and instead accept them and move on.Then, obtain a valid OC (it turns out that’s also crucial!).
At Washington, Penix recorded consecutive 4,000-yard passing seasons in 2022 and 2023. This autumn, as a senior, Penix completed 65.9% of his throws with 33 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, averaging 9.1 yards per attempt.
Is a Quarterback the Steelers’ Top Pick in the First Round? Wilson is not the only NFL analyst to predict that the Steelers will select a quarterback in the draft.
According to NFL source Peter King,
King did not, however, contend that the Steelers must select a quarterback earlier in the draft in order to select a talented prospect.
“Look, consider this: there are a lot of talented quarterbacks in this draft. Wherever the Steelers choose, there will be one, King stated.
Regarding what the Steelers would need to deliver in order to advance to No. 10, Wilson remained vague.
However, the Steelers have recently aided their cause in the draft.
