Report: The Steelers intend to extend Mike Tomlin’s contract.
Before the Pittsburgh Steelers’ lopsided victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, it seemed certain that head coach Mike Tomlin would be fired.
But after pulling off a significant victory, the Steelers intend to extend Tomlin’s contract in the offseason, per NBC Sports (via Dov Kleiman).
After the 2023 season, Tomlin will enter the final year of his current deal. Pittsburgh has seen ups and downs this season, but with two games remaining, the Steelers are 8-7 and still in the running to make the playoffs.
Tomlin will have completed his 17th consecutive season without a losing record if the Steelers are able to at least split these final two games.
However, supporters want to see the Steelers reclaim their former grandeur because they are fed up with their team’s lack of postseason success. It appears that the team thinks Tomlin can accomplish it.
