Ian Poulter’s latest feud over LIV Golf with Billy Horschel produces epic mic drop
Leave it to Billy Horschel and Ian Poulter to create your Christmas drama.
But it didn’t last long.
The Brits beat the Americans by reminding them how good they are with numbers.
After the situation surrounding Jon Rahm and LIV Golf finally settled down, the Christmas season should have passed without any more bombast between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed league.
But no, of course not.
Former Florida Gator held Poulter accountable for falsifying swing speed numbers.
“So you’re one of those people who exaggerates their clubhead speed,” Horschel wrote in X.
Poulter originally commented on his My Golf Spy graphic showing the flight distance of various golf balls he hit with a swing speed of 115 miles per hour.
Horschel decided the timing was too good to intervene.
Included are two photos showing Poulter’s average swing speed for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
These two screenshots of him show him reaching around 110 mph instead of 115 mph.
His six words, “So you’re one of those guys,” were bold enough to warrant a response from this passionate Brit known for his passion for the golf course.
Poulter then threw the microphone at Horschel, and it was spectacular.
“It’s okay, Billy.
.
.
” “I’m usually good with numbers,” Poulter wrote.
“So that means I was wrong to charge about $9 million per hour for participation in LIV.
What’s the number between friends?
European Ryder Cup stars say Horschel is on the Saudi-backed circuit Of course, nothing of this has been confirmed, but it’s still shocking.
On the PGA Tour Horschel, a seven-time winner, has also never been afraid to speak his mind, which he did earlier this year when he announced that the PGA Tour would no longer be a member-driven organization.
This argument isn’t the first time they’ve had beef.
In September 2022, they exchanged words about LIV Golf on the practice green at the BMW PGA Championship.
The 2021 World Golf Championship Dell Technologies Match Play winner remained silent after Poulter responded.
