They say you ought to never meet your legends, and even Rory McIlroy can vouch for that expression. Indeed, young Rory that is.
The PGA tour star is in place now to meet pretty much anybody he needs. Furthermore, he’s generally the most celebrity in the room nowadays. However, Rory, then 12 years old, had a different experience when he met Roy Keane, his hero from childhood, at a hotel in Ireland.
The four-time significant champ discussed the concise, disheartening connection with the Manchester legend on the Stick to Football web podcast. ” I can’t believe we are going to begin with this right away. And afterward he bravely went straight into it with Keane sitting a couple of feet away. See and tune in:
“So I was down at the Portmarnock Connections Inn and the Irish group was remaining and it was an instructional course I think,” McIlroy starts. ” Also, I saw Roy Keane, one of my favorite Man United players, in the lobby, so I went over and asked for his autograph. Furthermore, he gazed toward me, he was plunking down, and he goes, ‘Not today, kid.’ I was like, ‘alright.'”
Oof, that is unpleasant. Furthermore, Keane looked a piece humiliated prior to offering an interesting development.
“I was presumably in the zone,” he said, prior to adding, “The main thing I would recall about that lodging, truly, it was generally similar to, messes around irritating the players. Another one is here.”
Okay, so this definitely happened. At any rate, Rory ended up good overall, yet it’s a decent public service announcement for top pick competitors: Try not to turn down kids for signatures — particularly in light of the fact that no one can really tell which of those children will grow up to be more popular than you and openly disgrace you.
