Max Verstappen’s family is on the verge of European glory in a sport beyond F1
Max Verstappen has made his family’s name famous all over the world.
His success in F1 and his three world championships has made him one of the most popular athletes in the world.
But he’s not the only athlete in his family to rise to stardom.
His nephew Kai Geenen will represent the Netherlands at next week’s European Handball Championship.
His Gienen started his handball career in the lower leagues of his home country, but then rose to prominence and signed contracts abroad.
He currently plays for VfL Lübeck Schwartau in Germany’s second handball league.
The management of the Dutch national team recognized his talent and included him in the team.
Geenen will travel to Germany with the Dutch team to participate in the tournament starting on January 10th.
Although the Netherlands are not the strongest team in the tournament, they hope to advance to the finals.
Despite being busy with his own work in the world of F1, Verstappen has his eyes on Gehnen.
The Nephew of the Dutch Champion said on L1 (according to GP Blog) “You know I’m a high-level handball player and Max, Jos and Victoria always ask me how I’m doing.
Gienen tries It’s the pride of the whole family.
But will Verstappen be able to take the time to watch his nephew potentially make history?
Will Max Verstappen travel to Germany?
So far, Verstappen has not said anything about going to Germany to watch the European Championship.
F1 is currently in the middle of its winter break, and the 26-year-old is using the opportunity to do something he wouldn’t normally do.
This includes a trip to Brazil where he participated in a kart race with Nelson Piquet’s family.
He also attended the wedding of the three-time F1 champion’s son, Nelson Piquet Jr.
The Dutchman hasn’t lost his racing spirit and traveled to Portimao in Portugal to test a DTM car.
However, it seems unlikely that he will go to Germany to care for his nephew.
January is usually the time when drivers and teams report to the factory and begin preparations for the new season.
Verstappen will try to get back to his best to defend his crown and win his fourth title.
