N.F: Adam Schefter: Steelers HC Mike Tomlin could pull a Sean Payton after playoffs
For the first time since 2021, the Pittsburgh Steelers will make the playoffs, but Mike Tomlin, their head coach, is the main topic of discussion this morning.
With one year left on Tomlin’s contract, Art Rooney II declined to extend it as he usually does. There are rumors that it will be finished in the off-season.
However, the question of whether Tomlin will genuinely desire to continue coaching in Pittsburgh has emerged.
“They’re not terminating Mike Tomlin,” Adam Schefter said on Sunday’s ESPN NFL Commencement. ” However, here’s what’s intriguing: He has a year left on his agreement. Furthermore, there are certain individuals around the association who accept Mike Tomlin could choose to get some much needed rest like Sean Payton did.”
In 2022, Payton left the New Orleans Holy people with three seasons left on his agreement. He took a gig as a telecaster on Fox for a season prior to joining the Denver Horses as their lead trainer in 2023.
“Mike Tomlin will direct what occurs here, not the Pittsburgh Steelers,” said Schefter. ” He is staying put; they are not terminating him; however, he may do so. That is a different topic altogether if he decides to walk. What’s more, perhaps there’s a group out there, he’s from Washington, his better half loves Los Angeles, perhaps one of them needs to throw a call into the Steelers to check whether they could end up accomplishing something with him.”
I call B.S. It seems like Schefter is trying in vain here, as he has no hard realities to help his assertion. In a real sense anybody can (and has) make things up only for a story, and a line like “there are certain individuals around the association… ” stinks of only that.
