EXCLUSIVE: Mike Tomlin: Steelers are ‘not disrupting the apple cart’ at QB
Mason Rudolph will continue to start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers when they play the hot-streak Buffalo Bills this weekend in the wild card round of the playoffs.
Mike Tomlin remarked during his news conference on Tuesday, “Much like in the spirit of which we did a week ago, we’re just simply staying with the hot hand and not disrupting the apple cart.”
“We have had some difficult situations. We’ve delivered, and he has delivered. Thus, we shall carry on in that spirit.
The best ability is availability, and that’s precisely what made Rudolph successful following Kenny Pickett’s ankle injury, even though Pickett was the team’s starter the entire season.
Rudolph took over after Mitch Trubisky’s failed attempt and outperformed both Trubisky and Pickett.
Pittsburgh, which had trouble scoring points up until recently, is now finally putting up points.
Rudolph has gained 719 yards and three touchdowns in three starts. Probably the most crucial element is maintaining the football. In 74 attempts, he has not turned the ball over.
