NFL Rumors: Mike Tomlin will reportedly assess his coaching future whenever the Steelers’ season ends

Mike Tomlin began coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers when he was only 34 years of age. The football coaching legend may be thinking about taking a break after yet another successful season. After Bill Belichick and Nick Saban left their respective positions with the New England Patriots and Alabama Crimson Tide earlier this week, this news comes as yet another haymaker.

Mike Florio of NBC says that Tomlin will “step back” whenever the Steelers’ 2023 season ends and think about his future as a head coach with his family. The 2024 campaign  will be Tomlin’s keep going on his ongoing contract with the Steelers, opening an expected world of opportunities for one of the best coaches of the cutting edge time.

It goes without saying that Tomlin’s departure from Pittsburgh for something resembling a “break” would be shocking.

Tomlin has monitored the Steelers’ sideline for 17 seasons. In that time, he’s driven Pittsburgh to 11 postseason compartments, seven AFC North titles, two AFC titles, and a triumph in Super Bowl 43. He’s likewise never had a horrible mission. In every practical sense, particularly with a blueblood association like the Steelers, Tomlin’s resume is one of the best in NFL history.

Very few coaches have had the kind of success that Tomlin has. In 2007, Tomlin succeeded the late Bill Cowher as Pittsburgh’s head coach. Since then, he has shown unmatched consistency while leading the Steelers to two wins in the AFC title Game and a Super Bowl title. Tomlin has been the head coach for 17 seasons, with a 173-100 record (.631) and no losing seasons.

We’ll need to keep a watch out whether he needs to proceed with it with the Steelers soon enough. This Monday, Pittsburgh faces the Buffalo Bills in a rescheduled Wild Card playoff matchup. Unexpectedly, taking into account this Tomlin disclosure, that game appears to mean a lot to the Steelers’ team.
