Kareem Hunt Messages Browns Fans as He Prepares to Become a Free Agent After joining the Browns under unfortunate circumstances following Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury, Kareem Hunt has been playing for his hometown team this year.It was a surprise for Sparks.
Kareem Hunt will go down as one of the feel-good stories of the Browns’ 2023 season.
After star running back Nick Chubb suffered a grotesque, season-ending knee injury a week earlier, he rejoined his hometown team in Week 3 under dire circumstances.
Hunt remained unsigned throughout the offseason, but his familiarity with Cleveland’s system and culture made him an easy choice for Chubb.
Hunt led the team with nine touchdowns this season after sharing the backfield with Jerome Ford.
He also scored both of the Browns’ touchdowns in Saturday’s playoff opener, a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans.
When Cleveland’s season comes to an abrupt end, Hunt’s future with the team becomes uncertain.
Like last year, he enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
His efforts to lead the Browns to their second playoff appearance in four years could earn him a job elsewhere.
If that were to happen, Hunt acknowledged that he would not only be grateful for the opportunity to play for his hometown Browns, but would also play for them.
`No matter what happens, even if I play for another team or something, as long as they bring a championship to Cleveland, I’ll always be happy and satisfied,” Hunt said.
This is my hometown — oh my god, if that happens, I’ll be there cheering on the parade. I wish the Cleveland Browns the best of luck. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to be a part of this journey. No one on the roster has more ties to Northeast Ohio than Hunt, so this message clearly comes from a meaningful place. His impact goes far beyond mere statistics as he has been a key cultural contributor for the Browns this season. This fact was not lost on Kevin Stefanski. I really appreciate him and the way he plays, the style of play,” the Browns head coach said. Obviously, we ran out of space before Nick got injured. But to Kareem’s credit, he was in great shape, we brought him in and trained him. I did, and he looked great.
He quickly got his system back under control and played some really good football.
He made plays in high-leverage situations and scored touchdowns. He adds a ton of value to us.
He’s a fighter. I love the way he runs, the way he runs. He gave us a big impact that we needed.
