EXCLUSIVE: Coach Prime provides update on DC search: ‘We’re trying to get you a professional’

Everyone, including Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders, was watching the NFL playoffs begin this past weekend.

Coach Prime isn’t necessarily a fan, though, when he watches. While he searches for Colorado’s next defensive coordinator, he is also considering “professional” candidates.

Sanders talked about his ongoing hunt for Charles Kelly’s replacement while standing in front of his players in a YouTube video that Well Off Media released on Sunday.

Here’s what Coach Prime had to say

“I could easily choose a coordinator for you. But instead of being hasty, I would rather be right, because you deserve it,” Sanders told his team. “You got to understand the NFL is just getting over and there are still some teams in the playoffs. So, not only are we trying to get you a pro, but we’re trying to get you a professional, either from college or from the NFL. But we’re trying to do it right, because defense you deserve that. And we’re going to get it right for you.”

This doesn’t necessarily imply that Sanders will make the NFL decision, but it does demonstrate his excitement for the 2024 Buffs. For now, though, the Buffaloes’ supporters in Colorado are excited to find out who will be in charge of what should be an improved defense come autumn.
