Just in: LIV Golf ‘closes in’ on three new signings including major winner in huge deal

Jon Rahm has been signed by LIV Golf, and the company is poised to add three more golfers, including a major winner, with no indications of slowing down.

Wyndham Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, looks to be joining LIV Golf’s roster.

When the 30-year-old was competing at the Andalucia Masters in October 2023, rumors began to circulate about Clark maybe joining LIV Golf. During a news conference held at the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Clark expressed his desire for golf to be accessible to all people and detailed his desire for the PGA Tour to host more events in more places.

“I love the PGA Tour, I love the United States, but I also love traveling the world and growing the game of golf; I think it’s the best thing for golf, to make it a global game,” he told SB Nation at the time.

“I believe it would be better for the game if we could have more international and American players in our events held outside of the United States. I would adore it if there were five or seven events taking place in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, or somewhere else outside of the United States.”

Presently, very few of the PGA Tour’s events are held in Europe or other regions; practically all of them are in North America. Although the fall program has not yet been made public, it may include a visit to Japan.

In the meanwhile, major non-North American locations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia are hosting LIV Golf tournaments. Regarding Clark’s potential transfer to LIV, nothing has been formally confirmed, but according to the “Flushing It” podcast, the two parties have been negotiating a deal since before Christmas.

Along with Clark, No. 10-ranked amateurs Caleb Surratt and Keiran Vincent are apparently traveling to LIV in order to maybe join Jon Rahm’s squad, according to Handicap 54. Surratt, 19, was one of the six young players selected for the USA Junior Ryder Cup squad in 2021 and a member of Team USA for the 2023 Walker Cup.

26-year-old Vincent from Zimbabwe has been participating in the Asian Tour. He took home the 2023 International Series Vietnam title in addition to the 2018 and 2019 Chapman Grand Slams. Should all three athletes sign with LIV Golf, they will complete Rahm’s squad, dubbed “Legion XIII.”
