3 Possible trades to put the Pittsburgh Steelers over the top next season
In 2023, the Pittsburgh Steelers returned to the postseason. In the 17 years of Mike Tomlin’s career, it was the eleventh time. Tomlin finished 2023 with a 10-7 record, continuing his trend of never having a losing season.
Tomlin hasn’t won a Super Bowl in fifteen years, despite all of his victories. Some believed that the Tomlin era in Pittsburgh would be coming to an end following his season-ending 31-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but they were mistaken.
Tomlin still has a respectable squad and plenty of petrol left in his tank. They did allow their opponents to average more yards and points per game this past season than the Steelers, but it looks like they are only a few pieces away from raising the trophy once more and letting their coach walk away a victorious man.
The team’s cap position is the most pressing problem that needs to be resolved. They currently have $7 million more than the ceiling for 2024, so some difficult decisions will have to be made. There will be trades, reorganizations, and cuts for some, and restructurings for others. Fans of the Steelers will be devastated by the deals the organization must make, but it is for the greater good of the team going forward.
These three ideal transactions will elevate the Pittsburgh Steelers to the top of the league the following year. They plan to trade for two Pro Bowl players, acquire a potential Hall of Famer, and increase their draft capital. They will perform all three of these actions while lowering their cap number at the same time.
