Jaylin Simpson accepts NFL Combine invite, former Auburn football player re-enters portal
In today’s Auburn Tigers News, a former Auburn football player re-enters the transfer portal and safety Jaylin Simpson accepts an invitation to the 2024 NFL Combine.
Following an incredible 2023 campaign on the Plains, senior Jaylin Simpson has his sights set on the NFL, the pinnacle of professional football. Earlier in the season, the safety received an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and declared his plan to play in the esteemed game and enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
The NFL Combine is the best opportunity for players to raise their draft stock prior to the big game, even though the Senior Bowl offers possibilities for athletes to catch the attention of NFL personnel. Jim Nagy, the director of the Senior Bowl, told Auburn Live that Simpson has the the skills to be a successful NFL player.
Nagy remarked, “So you’re talking about a guy that’s gonna blow up the combine?” “You can see the range. In addition to having genuine centerfield talents, he is possibly athletic enough to play nickel. I believe that many teams are currently searching for that kind of player—a nickel/free—and they have a ton of excellent ones.
A former football player from Auburn returns to the transfer portal
A former Tiger from Auburn is looking for a new school once more. Romello Height, an edge rusher who recently played at Southern Cal in Los Angeles for the previous two seasons, has made an entry into the transfer portal.
Height, an outside linebacker from Dublin, Georgia, was the #29 recruit in his position in the 2020 recruiting class and was rated as a 4-star prospect. As a true freshman, he played in one game after signing with Auburn football. Height participated in nine games in 2021, totaling eighteen tackles, along with four quarterback hurries. Upon his departure at USC, he leaves with 21 tackles, 4 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery.
