JUST IN: Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. named to the PFWA All-Rookie team
One Pittsburgh Steelers player was named to the Pro Football Writers of America’s All-Rookie team. Along with Devon Witherspoon of the Seattle Seahawks, Joey Porter Jr. was selected a cornerback by the PFWA.
Broderick Jones, an offensive tackle, and Keeanu Benton, a defensive tackle, were the two rookies for the Steelers who were left off the roster.
Instead, the PWFA selected Chicago Bears’ Darnell Wright and Cleveland Browns’ Dawand Jones. The interior defensive line consisted of Jalen Carter of the Eagles and Kobie Turner of the Rams.
Nick Herbig, a rookie edge rusher, and the other three rookies both made major contributions for Pittsburgh. In 2023, Porter made 11 starts and rapidly established himself as the team’s top cover corner, consistently stopping the top receiver on the other team.
