Exclusive; Top Red Sox Prospect Admits It’s Nice To Be ‘Rewarded’ For Fast Rise
The Red Sox have high hopes for their top three prospects, and the buzz surrounding Roman Anthony could grow exponentially with a strong spring training.
The 19-year-old is Boston’s top prospect among Sox Prospects and is coming off an impressive season in which he was promoted from Low-A Salem to High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland. Anthony’s time with the Sea Dogs was short, but he hit one home run, eight RBIs and a 1.020 OPS in 10 games.
However, his growing star power in Boston’s farm system did not hinder his overall goal of a major league baseball career. “It’s always a good feeling to receive an award. “It’s nice to see all the hard work slowly pay off,” Anthony said of the Red Sox development program. “It does not matter to me. Because the bottom line is to come here and help this team win the World Series in Boston. For me, it’s nice to win awards and have people recognize what you do every day, but it remains the same. The process remains the same. The ultimate goal is to reach your destination as quickly as possible. But now everything is fun. –
Anthony starts with that. This fund can lead to treatment, not outside the empire this season. But the outfielder’s scoring hasn’t changed despite high expectations.
“I don’t think it’s going to change,” Anthony said of his goals this season. “Just like when I went to spring training last year, I didn’t know what to expect. I tried to learn as much as I could from all the guys around me who were more experienced than me and they kept that mindset at every level. For the first time, I tried to rely on men with more experience than me who were in the same situation as me. So I think it’s the same regardless of level, I try to learn as much as I can and improve every day.
Triston Casas was at Red Sox development camp and offered some quick advice to the players there. The Boston first baseman has expressed optimism about Anthony’s career, and Red Sox fans can join that optimism by watching what he does in Fort Myers, Florida.
