Max Verstappen secures backing from F1 veterans on polarizing matter despised by Red Bull racer.
Many accuse Max Verstappen of being a grumpy Formula 1 driver due to his disinterest in the glitz and glamour associated with the sport.
In his endorsement, Formula 1 icon Alain Prost has come out in support of Max Verstappen’s traditional and grounded approach to the sport while representing Red Bull.
Verstappen, a three-time champion of the world, is known for his intense focus on racing and tendency to avoid F1’s glitzy atmosphere. He recently made headlines with his outspoken comments regarding both the Las Vegas Grand Prix as well as Sprint races. Despite adapting to some modern trends in motorsports during his impressive career trajectory, this Dutch driver remains reminiscent of legends like Prost who gained notoriety through their methodical approaches; earning himself an enduring nickname – ‘The Professor’.
During his illustrious career, Prost secured four World Drivers’ Championship titles and he holds Verstappen in high regard. In an interview with Motorsport Magazine, Prost expressed admiration for the young driver stating that he appreciates how unique Verstappen is in terms of both thinking and speaking. He also noted that even at events such as Las Vegas where distractions abound, Verstappen remains determined to focus on winning races.
It’s possible for individuals to have differing opinions on this particular person, yet it is important to acknowledge that you are not obligated to share their views. Personally, I find it refreshing to witness a driver who demonstrates authenticity and honesty by speaking openly about his distaste for sprint races without succumbing to political pressure. In my opinion, these qualities make him admirable despite any polarising perspectives others may hold towards him.
According to Alain Prost, the former Ferrari champion aged 68, Max Verstappen has what it takes to rule over the racing circuit for many years. Red Bull aims at another triumphant season after kick-starting their campaign on Sunday March 2 in Barhain. In his column published by L’Equipe following Verstappen’s third consecutive title victory, Prost acknowledged that what distinguishes him is his ability to constantly strive for excellence while avoiding any errors during race driving.
Undoubtedly, he has achieved greatness as a driver. However, what sets him apart in my perspective is his ability to synchronize with his team and vehicle.”
Every day he strives for perfection, making him a standout individual. As you overhear the driver’s complaints about his single-seater misbehaving during Friday morning’s free practice session, do not mistake it as coming from an impatient youngster who used to make errors and crash into walls.
Not everyone is a fan of Verstappen, as evidenced by the loud boos he received while standing on the podium after winning over Lewis Hamilton at last year’s United States Grand Prix. Some may hope to see him lose his dominant position in the upcoming season – but we wouldn’t be quick to place any bets on it.
