Placing Brock Bowers in NFL mock drafts is challenging, despite his status as a “Pro Bowl player.”
Brock Bowers is widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects in this year’s NFL draft by nearly every draft expert. His versatile skillset, which he demonstrated frequently during his tenure at Georgia, make him a standout player.
Although it’s not his fault, numerous reputable analysts concur that Bowers is unlikely to be selected as one of the top ten picks.
At pick No. 18, according to NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah, Bowers was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jeremiah expressed, “I have a personal desire to witness these fits come true. Realistically speaking, it’s improbable for Bowers to drop this low in the first round; nonetheless, let us indulge our imagination and envision him teaming up with Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.”
Despite his impressive skills at quarterback, wide receiver and offensive tackle, Bowers is being overlooked in the draft because he doesn’t play a position that’s considered essential.
“It’s tough to place a tight end in mock drafts even though I adore Brock Bowers,” expressed Matt Miller from ESPN during a conference call. “In my experience, his selection usually falls around picks 13-15 as teams within the top ten prioritize big positional value such as quarterback, left tackle, wide receiver and corner due to their multiple requirements.”
Although Bowers may be among the top five most skilled players in the draft, he tends to fall slightly behind in mock drafts.
Despite missing four games due to ankle injuries, Bowers managed to catch 56 passes for 714 yards and scored six touchdowns last season. His ability to return from the injury during the season has eased any doubts about its potential impact on his draft stock.
Bowers is anticipated to be one of the top performers at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, providing him with a chance to display his athletic prowess and address any concerns that teams may have about him.
While a top 5 selection may not be guaranteed, Bowers can likely avoid falling in the draft rankings with an impressive performance.
Bowers could be a game-changer for any talented team that manages to grab him amidst the rush on wide receivers and quarterbacks, according to Miller.
According to Miller, the team’s strategy is focused on selecting the top player regardless of position and that individual happens to be Brock Bowers. They will confidently choose him with the expectation of acquiring a Pro Bowl caliber athlete.
In the latest mock draft by Miller, he predicted that Bowers would be selected by the New Orleans Saints with pick number 14. The Indianapolis Colts are also a potential team, having been discussed for pick number 15.
On March 1, Bowers has a workout schedule at the NFL combine in preparation for the upcoming first round of the NFL draft on April 25. Throughout Georgia’s last five consecutive NFL drafts, there has been a chosen tight end from their team roster – with no doubts added; Bowers is expected to become number six.
