Rory McIlroy’s aspirations to win the Masters have been insulted by LIV Golf ace deals
Despite being a four-time major champion, Rory McIlroy has yet to win the coveted Green Jacket at Augusta National as he tirelessly pursues his ultimate goal of achieving the career grand slam.
While Rory McIlroy is still hopeful of clinching his last major victory at The Masters, Talor Gooch – the LIV Golf champion has stated that this year’s win would be considered with a caveat.
As Tiger Woods’ and Jon Rahm’s performances at Augusta unfurl, there will be a keen interest in Rory McIlroy’s unrelenting pursuit of the career grand slam – with The Masters being his final major conquest that still eludes him.
Aspiring to claim the coveted Green Jacket this year, he is optimistic about his chances. However, Gooch fears that a victory will be overshadowed by the absence of LIV Golf’s elite players. Despite being crowned as LIV Golf’s individual champion in 2023, Gooch was not offered an invitation to participate at The Masters tournament.
Last year, Gooch emerged victorious three times on the LIV Golf tour, triumphing over esteemed competitors such as Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson in a points race that spanned the season. However, despite his impressive record on the circuit,Gooch will not have an opportunity to compete at Augusta – a decision which has understandably left him feeling disheartened. He predicts that this absence will mar the status of 2024’s Masters tournament with an asterisk symbolizing his exclusion from it.
According to Gooch, there will be an asterisk if Rory Mcllroy achieves his Grand Slam without the world’s top players. He believes it is important for the majors to bring together all elite players as everyone benefits in such circumstances.
In light of notable players such as Rahm, Smith, Johnson and DeChambeau participating in Augusta alongside Phil Mickelson, Joaquin Niemann, Adrian Meronk, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed – not to mention new recruit Tyrrell Hatton – Gooch’s remarks defending LIV Golf yield intrigue.
The exclusion of Talor Gooch from this year’s Masters tournament has left him feeling frustrated.

In spite of the divide in golf between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, with their differences and rivalry, commissioner Greg Norman expressed that he would not hesitate to show admiration or extend congratulations to McIlroy in case of him winning at Masters. As a former runner-up thrice at this iconic tournament himself, Norman acutely comprehends how challenging it is to triumph at Augusta.
According to the Australian Golf Digest, Norman stated that he has a practice of removing emotions from everything. He claims expertise in this area and does not let emotions influence his business decisions or any other aspect of life. Additionally, he believes that individuals who allow their emotions to impact decision-making demonstrate weakness.
After Rory’s unfortunate miss at the 2011 Masters due to a wayward tee shot on hole 10, I reached out with a message of encouragement. He replied and we shared in his disappointment as fellow sportsmen. If he were to win this year’s competition, it would only be right for me to congratulate him on achieving the grand slam – that is what being humble and respectful in sport truly means. This exemplifies my approach both on and off the field: showing grace through victories or defeats is essential when pursuing excellence in any game or circumstance.
From 11th April to 14th April, the Masters of 2024 will be held.
