Jon Rahm ghosted by Tiger Woods after $450 million LIV Golf jump

After Jon Rahm made the $450 million LIV Golf jump, Tiger Woods ceased communication with him.

Although many of us have experienced being ghosted at some point, few are like Jon Rahm who had the opportunity to discuss his experience on national TV. But then again, most of us aren’t professional golfers or involved in controversial moves such as switching over to LIV Golf while reportedly turning down one of the greatest athletes in history.

According to reports, this was the sequence of events after Rahm departed from PGA Tour in December and joined LIV Golf for a whopping $450 million. Despite attempts at reaching out via text message, Woods did not respond when Rahm sought to explain his exit.

Jon Rahm unexpectedly withdraws from the Tiger and Rory-founded TGL initiative.

When ESPN’s Marty Smith inquired about whether he had heard from Woods, Rahm confessed, “Not really tiger.” He stated that after signing up and adhering to the customary protocol of notifying those who attempted to contact him, including Tiger through a text message informing him of his personal decision.

Rahm kept the Woods texts brief and didn’t elaborate further, though he confirmed that Rory McIlroy had acknowledged them.

According to Rahm, Rory has been supportive of my decision both publicly and privately. After the Spaniard’s exit, McIlroy made further concessions for LIV Golf in his effort to put an end to this feud and compete against top golfers without distractions.

During The Overlap, he admitted to Gary Neville, “In the beginning, I may have been somewhat critical of the men who attended LIV Golf. Looking back now, that was a slight misjudgment on my part because I understand not everyone is situated similarly to me or Tiger Woods.”

The communication between Rahm and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan is currently stagnant, similar to Woods’ situation. Despite his desire to play on both LIV Golf and PGA Tour circuits in future times, the $450 million player believes that Monohan’s busy schedule prevents him from communicating with him. To accomplish this goal, he needs someone to respond positively through text message at least once.
